Information for our customers and distributors about delivery delays and longer sea freight times for ASSMANN WSW products from Asian production

Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

ASSMANN WSW, as your supplier and partner for standard and customer-specific connectors, cooling technology and cable assembly solutions, would like to proactively inform you about potential delivery delays or extended delivery times for ASSMANN WSW products from Asian production.

Previously, individual sea freight delivery delays of up to 1 – 2 weeks were due to the geopolitical situation (attacks by the Houthi rebels in the Red Sea), but this situation is becoming increasingly worse, with the delayed return of empty containers to Asia leading to capacity bottlenecks in the available cargo space. The shortage of loading capacity is increasingly leading to sea freight deliveries being extended by 1 – 2 weeks. At the same time, this has led to ever-increasing freight costs (tripling) for ASSMANN WSW since February 2024, which from today's perspective our group of companies will not pass on to customers.In addition, shipping companies have introduced so-called “blank sailings” since the end of last year. What this means is, that planned or promised departures do not actually take place in order to artificially reduce the loading space and thus influence sea freight rates. From today's perspective, it is assumed that this situation will continue until at least the end of June. Of course, we are constantly monitoring this situation and doing everything we can to optimize your deliveries as best as possible.

With this in mind, we have decided to adjust the delivery times for our products from Asia by an additional 1 week for all new orders due to the longer shipping times.

Of course, we will reduce the delivery times again as soon as the above situation has eased again.
