A lot of older applications, but as well new designs, do use this connector system. Maybe, one major reason for the continuous use is related to the very solid design of the connectors. Due to this design, the connectors according to DIN 41617 do reach higher current ratings compared with other connector systems, especially if the connector is fully loaded. Connectors according to DIN 41617 are offered with three different pin counts, 13, 21 and 31 contacts and can be chosen as male or female version. The connectors are offered with a silver contact plating.
